You really can't call this a cabin. Sure it is located in a bucolic mountain meadow and on the pristine Yakima River. And yes it is full of pinewood walls and surrounded by woods. But Elk River Chalet is really more than a cabin.

One guest observed, "I would never have known I could find this kind of peace and quiet just a 90 minute drive from Seattle. I felt like I was in the wilds of Alaska."

This home has two stories with the living area on the second. That provides a clear open view of the meadows and river from which you can see deer and elk and maybe even bear and other critters. You can do all that while sitting in front of the fireplace or from the hot tub. Nothing could be finer. It is nature at your fingertips.

The living room is where the family will spend its time. You can watch a movie on the TV. Bring a DVD or scan through the cable offerings. Dinner can be cooking on the stove or the kids can be playing cards at the table. A good many nights have been spent there with oldsters and youngsters having fund.

The home has 3.5 bedrooms, and two bathrooms which means it’s easy for a large family to settle in and have space for everyone. Some are upstairs and some down and accessed by a separate entrance. There is no internal stairway. Grandma might actually like it this way because she can get away from the kids for a few minutes if she wants.

Or they can get away and do kid things without all the noise adults might want to distance themselves from. Plus there is a washer/dryer, the kitchen is fully equipped and there are all the other little touches that will make you fee right at home.

And around the Yakima River valley there are plenty of things to do. In winter there is cross country skiing, snow mobiling and just up valley you can go downhill skiing at any of the four Snoqualmie Pass ski areas. It boasts a lot of down-hill terrain and one of the largest night skiing operations in the country.

In summer, there is horseback riding, hiking, biking or you can just toss your fishing line in the river right off the lawn. And you are bound to catch something too. The Yakima River is considered one of the best fishers in the entire State. So please do come and spend a stay at Elk Trail Chalet. If you long to return to a place of space after your day on the slopes, then the Elks Trail is for you. Far more than a cabin, Elk Trail Chalet is a world unto itself.

A place where you can sit back and relax or spend all day traipsing the country enjoying the great outdoors. This is your vacation made so easy!
