Vortex Acquires Beachy Day and a New Partner (News item #261 published: 02/01/12)

The Vortex Organization, a Seattle based lodging management firm has acquired the Beachy Day Vacation Rental Management company of Westport Washington. Lu Ann Kolten, an employee of Beachy Day has become the local Vortex Partner.

Beachy Day was started by Sharon Simmons and Tony Todd a dozen years ago to handle reservations, housekeeping and maintenance for homes on Washington State's south beaches of Westport, Graylandand Tokeland. The company grew to become the largest vacation rental business in the area.

"Operating the business has been a great joy, but it was time to get some time off and do new things," said Simmons. "I will be staying in the area so I can spend more time with my family"

Beachy Day specializes in unique cabins, cottages and houses in the area. Many of the properties are beach front and all are fully equipped for short or long stays.

Lu Ann Kolten, an former employee of Beachy Day has become Vortex's partner for the Beachy Day office. She said "I've been around the community and the industry a number of years and operating the business is a dream come true."

Since the take-over, the BeachyDay.comwebsite has been redesigned so that it now has fast and accurate online bookings making it easy for guests to find the perfect property. Local shops, restaurants, activities and events are also featured there.

The company is now adding additional properties from owners who want a manager located practically next door, combined with a state wide organization that offers wide spread advertising, long reservation hours and great customer support.
