The 4,000 acre reservoir is owned by Tacoma Power and Light. It has 23 miles of shoreline and runs to the Northwest up and into the Olympic mountains. There is fishing for Kokanee, Salman, Rainbow and Cutthroat trout. Visitors enjoy water skiing, swimming and tubing.

Just five miles downhill on Hood Canal, the hamlet of Hoodsport has groceries, coffee shops, restaurants and boat launch on the canal.
