Point Roberts is part of Washington State but completely unconnected to it. Formed in 1846, it established the 49th parallel in the Treaty of Washington. To get to Point Roberts, one must cross the U.S.-Canadian border in Blaine, and go west to Tsawwassen, British Columbia, and across the border back into the United States.
